SPP
The SPP is the Security and Prosperity Partnership, which was created by the White House. It was created to make the flow of consumer goods, resources, and "legitimate people" smooth. It was also created to allow a greater cooperation between the nations of Canada, Mexico, and the USA to deal with terrorist threats and epidemics. It seems wrong to me and many others that our Prime Minister is meeting in secret with the Bush administration and the leaders of the Mexican government to discuss the future of our security and resources and how they will be handled with no discussion at all with other members of the opposition in the House of Commons. Sure there must be a commentary on major issues in regards to trade, disease, and security, but are not these things already part of international diplomacy? Why the secret meetings? Why is it on the SPP website (www.spp.gov) there is a fact vs. myth link? It seems as though they are going out of their way to quell any fears of undemocratic talks and decisions that would not settle so well with the common people of each of the involved countries. There are rumors of a North American Union in the making. It may be to soon to tell, but there are already parallels being made on the blogs of the world that the current credit crisis is all part of the plan. It is hard to deny that there isn't a group of people behind the curtain pulling levers manipulating the markets. How does the cost of gas drop 30 cents overnight when there was so much talk of oil prices remaining high due to the Iraq war, peak oil, and whatever other bullshit that we were being fed by the news corps. Are these things suddenly not so relevant? How does the Canadian dollar fall from on par with the US dollar down to less that 0.80 cents seemingly overnight? How is it that the bankers of North America did not see this 'Credit Crisis' from happening? Or did they? I am no economist, but either are the majority of North Americans. Is it a coincidence that the majority of North American citizens don't really know what is happening with the financial crisis? All they know is what they are being told through the various mass media outlets. Most people hardly even know what a recession is. Did the bankers know that a tax payer bailout would occur? Did the people really have a choice or even have the knowledge to choose. Both of the American candidates are in agreement over this issue (surprise, surprise). It is refreshing to hear that the already under funded educational systems in North America are going to receive even more drastic cuts. The world seems as though it is going through a metamorphosis. With the forming of the EU and now a potential Mediterranean Union, is it any surprise that the topic of a North American Union would come up? It seems as though the world powers are starting to anti-up. Remember what happened before WWII? When there is seemingly no work or money to be made on home soil, the bankers and politicians love a good long war. It has always seemed easy to rally up the poor and under-educated fathers and sons to fight for their country to feed their families in the name of freedom. There is always money in war. Let's hope I am wrong.
"RCMP Disgraces Canada with Provocateur"
This was a protest against the SPP that the RCMP were trying to discredit by using provocateurs. If you are not familiar with the SPP, do some research. This is a serious issue that is intentionally kept out of the media spotlight. Here is a portion of what is on Wikipedia.com,
On May 10, 2007, Conservative MP Leon Benoit, chair of the Canadian House of Commons Standing Committee on International Trade, prevented University of Alberta professor Gordon Laxer from testifying that SPP would leave Canadians "to freeze in the dark" because "Canada itself – unlike most industrialized nations – has no national plan or reserves to protect its own supplies" by saying Laxer's testimony was not relevant, defying a majority vote to overrule his motion, shutting down the Committee meeting, and leaving with the other three out of four Conservative members; the meeting later continued presided by the Liberal vice-chair. [13] After these disruptions, the National Post reported on a Conservative party manual to, among other things, usurp Parliamentary committees and cause chaos in unfavourable committees. [14] [15] The New Democratic Party has also criticized SPP for being undemocratic, not open to Parliament, and opaque [16]; New Democratic Party leader Jack Layton described the process as not simply unconstitutional, but "non-constitutional," held completely outside the usual mechanisms of oversight. [17]
Some thirty US-based organizations also sent an open letter to Congress on April 21, 2008 criticizing the secrecy and lack of any sort of democratic oversight:
What differentiates the SPP from other security and trade agreements is that it is not subject to Congressional oversight or approval. The SPP establishes a corporate/government bureaucracy for implementation that excludes civil society participation. ... Facing a worrisome pact pushed forward in secrecy, it is time for Congress to halt this undemocratic approach and establish a process based on openness, accountability, and the participation of civil society. [18]
Bring Back the Charavari!!
In the Canada of old, men and women of the lower classes formed groups and, donned in costumes, would take it upon themselves to represent the ideals of the majority. They would seek out those who were corrupt and immoral (regardless of class) and create spectacles to humiliate and intimidate those targeted. They would be relentless in their heckling and rabble-rousing until there was an admittance of guilt and a monetary fine was paid to a charity benefiting the working class. Protests are still in existence as we well know, but the amount of corruption and general immorality within our North American borders greatly outnumber the few we hear about. We complacently believe that the centralized control over our police force is strictly for our benefit. Then why is it that the police tend to work against us, beat us down, tear gas us, pepper spray us, arrest us, and mute our voices when we have a sincere claim against crimes and legislation that hurt our communities. We must bring back the charivari!!!! We must bring back the ability to have our community voices heard!!! We must find a way to stop the corruption and immoral choices of those who hurt our communities!!! We must take action into our own hands!!!
If anyone has any good ideas, please share...

2+2=5?
We are a complacent populace here in North America. Although we know that two plus two does not make five; we still do nothing to try and bring the truth out into the light. We are armchair cynics with short attention spans. We don't have time to pay attention because we are too busy distracting ourselves. We are addicted to distractions. We love them. We would do anything to keep ourselves from actually thinking about the reality of life and the state of our world (let alone actually getting off our couches and doing something about it). The human race is heading down a disastrous path blindfolded with a veil of complacency. Our inaction will manifest itself into our shackles.
